The Alex Way gymnasium in Portsmouth has now opened following its completion using Danpalon panels to flood the internal spaces with natural light.
The project consisted of using Danpalon panels on all sides of the gym with softlite panels to eliminate glare yet still maintain a high level of light transmission. An important asset for all sports facilities allowing artificial light to be reduced, maximizing natural daylight whilst eliminating glare and reflection.
Our 16mm thick panels helped illuminate the gym and give its members the freedom of lighting needed to compete.
Using our Softlite finish the panels can see the instant difference (see below photograph). A Softlite panel consists of our normal Danpalon but with a Softlite layer on either the internal or external surface that is co-extruded. The Softlite, much like our regular Danpalon, can come in Ice, Clear, Opal, Blue, Green and other requested colours.
This system was developed specifically with this application in mind, the anti-glare panel is becoming one of the most commonly used systems with gymnasia and sports centre’s in the UK.
