The Deck at the National Theatre
Dan Pal (UK) and A-EM Architects have brought to life a magnificent structure on top of The National Theatre on the South bank in London.

Using Danpalon 16mm with a clear softlite finish, Dan Pal (UK) were able to design and construct and entire structure out of Danpalon to light up the sky line and add further emphasis to the wonderful grade 2 listed building ‘The National Theatre’.

Strip lighting LED’s at the sill of the structure create and even light that can be seen across the Southbank. Created for the purpose of being a conference and entertainment venue it is in the ideal position for all manner of functions.

“It picks up a panorama of the City of London that stretches from St Paul’s round to Somerset House and on to Hawksmoor’s towers at Westminster Abbey. It’s a magical position…probably the most beautiful site in London.” Denys Lasdun, Architect of The National Theatre

Also using the softlite finish on the panel, during the day there is no glare internally and by night the lights, that change through all the colors’ of the rainbow, do not bounce off the surface of the panels but are filtered into a warm even light.

The project is testament to how versatile Dan Pal’s systems are; showing to all that it is even possible to construct an entire building out of our stylish yet robust material.
