Associated British Ports - Southampton

Work is now finished on an ABP project in Southampton on the latest ship port in the city. Dan Pal (UK) supplied the systems for this grand project that saw Danpalon used on cylindrical rooflights, and vertical translucent walling for many areas of the passenger terminal.

Using a wide variety of Dan Pal UK systems the architects designed something that is truly unique and is a great technical achievement. Dan Pal (UK) systems were used for the baggage terminal, waiting areas and passenger terminal.

For the large facade in the baggage terminals Danpalon 16mm Clear 1040mm wide panels were used in a horizontal, multiple configuration installation.  The resulting installation resulted in a superb U value achieved of 0.35 W/m2/0C

Possibly the greatest technical achievement on the project were the cylindrical ‘chimney’ rooflights in the passenger terminal.  Ther Danpalon panels were thermoformed to complete a perfect non facetted cylinder flooding the internal space with natural light.   Additionally to this there was a large area of curved, insulated polycarbonate system used in the baggage areas at the entrance to the main building.

Architect: The Manser Practice

Installer: Glamalco Ltd
